For the prompts: Magnetism.
Oh, Iām not sure if this is really my headcanon or if this is a phandom-wide thing... I tend to forget where things come from. :) All I know for sure is itās a headcanon that Iāve had for years and years and years.
Albert Einstein has this equation - e=mc2. Really basically, energy is matter moving really fast and energy slowed way down is matter. Energy is both a wave and a particle.Ā
Iāve always imagined ectoplasm as sort of an in-between of e=mc2 - something halfway between matter and energy. Some sort of physical manifestation of a wave, although the exact details change depending on what I need the story to do. :)
Electromagnetic waves can be affected by magnets. Ectoplasm has a similar reaction to magnets, being a sort-of-wave-energy. (ectosignatures are a wave pattern). Ghost shields are powerful, localized magnetic fields, much like the one that protects the Earth from the worst of the sunās deadly energy.Ā
Anywho, back to magnets. Guess where you can find some of the most powerful magnets in your house? The microwave.
Iāve headcanoned for years that Danny is an excellent cook - the best in the Fenton household, and perhaps in the neighborhood - but he cannot standĀ the microwave since the accident. His reaction to it changes depending on the story (from pain to a jittery shock to just an unpleasant feeling), but itās always the same in the end: repulsed by the device.Ā
And he doesnāt admit it, because he likes beingĀ ānormalā, and knows itās related to his ghost side.
He ends up getting a lot of flack from his sister and friends that he does everything āthe long wayā instead of just use the microwave. Danny insists making hot chocolate is better when you slowly boil the milk on the stove instead of nuke it for thirty seconds. He gets into long arguments about why frozen meals taste better after 45 minutes in a toaster oven instead of three minutes in the microwave.Ā
I dunno, itās a little silly. But itās one of my random long-standing headcanons that I sort of cling to. That, and the ketchup thing. :)
