"Uh.. I think I’m lost."
… Hahahah, wow. They were bringing kids here? Plain, perfectly normal kids right out of grade school? Unless this girl’s got world-rending super powers or something that makes kidnapping for the sake of science seem okay, he’ll admit it— these scientists are worse than he is! And that’s saying something!
He’s not in any real place to judge morality, though, and he’s sure there’s a million other people in this city that’ve said all he could say about the wickedness of their captors. Instead, he opts to tuck his hands in his pockets and address the matter at hand— even though he’d probably just brush off this girl’s plight with some upsetting comment if he had something better to do.
"You must be really lost if you’re asking a cat like me for directions!” Only moreso when it’s the first thing she asks about, rather than what he is. He guesses it goes either way with kids, like that— he’d either scare them down the block or he’d look irresistibly precious. Both are pretty reasonable, he thinks, but it always feels like one or the other. “Too bad I’m not all that familiar with the local area, either. I had a better time telling where I was in the woods— how weird is that?”
She’s probably not here to make small talk, but whatever— he likes talking.
