It's three years to Sanidine's launch day, and Gabbro's been in space long enough for Gossan to have a rare moment of spare time. Naturally, the best use for spare time is to go confess the information Esker gave them to Slate. It's not like their bad luck might intervene in something that simple. Right?

Beautiful, black allanite-(Ce) crystal, grown in a cavity formed by the interlacing of white, shiny crystals of sanidine. Iridescence is due to a thin layer of opal.

Allanite (also called orthite) is a sorosilicate group of minerals within the broader epidote group that contain a significant amount of rare earth elements. The mineral occurs mainly in metamorphosed clay rich sediments and felsic igneous rocks. The International Mineralogical Association lists three minerals in the allanite group, each recognized as a unique mineral: allanite-(Ce), allanite-(La) and allanite-(Y), depending on the dominant rare earth present, cerium, lanthanum or yttrium.
Sanidine is a glassy, high temperature form of potassium feldspar . Sanidine is found most typically in felsic volcanic rocks such as obsidian, rhyolite and trachyte. Due to the high temperature and rapid quenching, sanidine can contain more sodium in its structure than the two polymorphs that equilibrated at lower temperatures. Colourless, beige and attractive warm-brown stones are faceted.
