“Billy Preston: That’s the Way God Planned It” to Hit Theaters Feb. 20

As an interviewer recounts his work with Little Richard, the Beatles and Ray Charles, Billy Preston beams and flashes a gap-toothed smile.

“It’s wild, man. It’s a lot of fun. Yeah, it’s great,” he says.

So begins the trailer for “Billy Preston: That’s the Way God Planned It,” the Paris Barclay-directed documentary that opens Feb. 20 and counts Olivia Harrison among its executive producers.

“He was so great,” Ringo Starr says of Preston as he mimics playing a keyboard. “He never put his hands in the wrong place.”

Soundtracked with the title song, “Will It Go Round in Circles” and “Nothing from Nothing” and showing Preston in the studio with the Fabs and onstage with George Harrison, the trailer foreshadows a film that chronicles Preston’s life from church to fame to drug addiction.

“I ask so many times, ‘How did we let that boy get away from us?’,” gospel singer Sandra Crouch says.

I love how Rodney always knows how to make Alondra smile. I mean, he’s a goofball, so of course. But still lol.

I believe that when you have a sense within yourself that God is calling you to work in a particular part of the ministry, that no matter what gender you are, you should be able to answer that call.
