A truly amazing moment in supernatural is when Sam goes to thank his teacher for telling him he didn’t have to follow his fate. And the teacher is like great so you did your own thing, and Sam says for a while.
And his teacher’s smile falters, and he asks if he’s happy, because that’s all that matters.
And Sam kind of laughs, because by now he’s pretty sure his fate as world ender is inevitable. And he says for a while, but now he’s back in the family business. And what is happiness in that?
And then his teacher gives him a look, and Sam must walk through the rest of his life knowing that he disappointment that man.
