Higgs had awoken from another nightmare, not uncommon for him. He’s dealt with nightmares since he was a small child; the subject’s turning from scary monsters to something more close to home, images of the man who raised him, rising from tar and finishing dulling out the pain he thought higgs deserved.

Back then he’d dealt with the aftermath alone, crying himself back to sleep or forcing himself up to work… but not anymore. He wasn’t alone, he slept in the same bed as the man who had saved him from himself, Sam Porter Bridges.

He slipped out of bed, only in a loose t-shirt and sleep shorts, and stumbled into the main room of their bunker. His eyes were foggy from sleep. Sam was doing something, Higgs to out of it to notice or care, as he higg’s slipped a hand hesitantly over sam’s hip. He nuzzled into his cheek as his mind thought back to how much sam disliked touch… he mumbled a soft-

“I’m sorry…” as he started to pull away, but before he could sam turned around to face him.

Sam took a hold of his arm and pulled him in, kissing him softly on the lips, warm and sweet, chest to chest.

“It’s you. I don’t mind” he whispered into the kiss. Placing a hand on the small of his back to ground Higgs.
