BIOGRAPHY: Luck has somehow always remained on Caelan’s side, and more often in the strangest of ways. After high school, and with the support of his parents and siblings alike, he kissed goodbye to the chains of education and took to exploring the world in all its natural beauty. From trekking Alberta, scaling Everest, exploring Texas and flirting with the high life in Manhattan – it’s safe to say that by the eve of his twentieth he had been there and down it all in regards to what the grand old U, S of A and its bordering lands had to offer. Next on his list was the allure of Europe, and so it continued.

Caelan is every inch the definition of a Vagabond, hipster, hippie, gyspy – whichever you may prefer. His travels were funded by his ability to sweet talk his way into temporary employment before moving along to something new. Both making and loosing friends along the way, leaving traces of his existence across the globe seeming to be his only aim. As a soul who wishes to be remembered for his revolt against the expectations of society, there is always something new to be discovered, a better version of present life just waiting to be found.

Originally born and raised in Cloverbrook’s East side, it wasn’t until the sudden passing of his father that Caelan returned. What should have been a joyous occasion focused on reconciliation with old family and high school friends was marred by mourning and seemingly fake offers of condolences from faces he no longer recognised and names that failed to register. With a sole focus on family however, time spent with his younger sister brought around the birth of Vagabonds. Their father had always encouraged a life with no limit and in turn the duo found reason to share the same with others. With the help of savings, funds, and what had been granted to them in their fathers will, Vagabonds opened its doors shortly after. Whilst Caelan still feels there is more within the world waiting to be discovered, he has found temporary solace in his new adventure.

PERSONALITY: Caelan is a very relaxed, open minded person. Having been there and done it all twice already, there is little that surprises him anymore. Where he falters perhaps, is his lack of refined social etiquette, favouring a rough and ready approach to situations. A free soul, but one tinged with anarchy in places Caelan has difficulty abiding by rules and regulations having racked up a reputation as a troublemaker – albeit a mild one - in some places as a result.  He is aware that Vagabonds may encourage the wrong type of people to filter into the area – in accordance to the mayors new development plans – but quite frankly, he doesn’t care.

HEADCANONS:

Caelan lives on site in regards to the hostel, along with his business partner sister and the majority of the staff. The place gives off a real homely, laidback vibe, and he’s always around somewhere to lend a helping hand when need be.

In keeping with the stereotype some may give him, Caelan is a keen surfer. Although Cloverbrook may not come close to the wonder of Byron Bay, its surfer culture is certainly growing on him. Sunrise sessions are primetime for his wave worshiping.

From Bragg to Campbell, name a US military base and you’ll find that Micah Connor has already been there and done that ten times over. As a recently promoted Marine Corps Major, the vast majority of his 34 years on earth has been wholeheartedly dedicated to serving and protecting his country – though it wasn’t always a passion that he held. Born and raised in the shadow of Manhattans glimmer, Micah was just a bad kid by nature. Whether it was picking fights with older kids, or pocketing the loot from petty crimes, there had been more than one occasion that the NYPD had come knocking on the door of his Queens home – much to the annoyance of his mother Roseanne. His reign as the family troublemaker became short lived however when Roseanne, eight years after losing her husband, lost her job and her home thanks to dwindling markets and rising rent prices. The solution at the time was to switch the city of New York for her hometown in North Carolina, moving in with her brother’s family and taking her two children with her. What was supposed to be a temporary fix however, evidently turned out to be something a lot more permanent.

With no city streets to terrorise and no friends to ditch school with, 14-year-old Micah was launched into a landscape that couldn’t have been more polar opposite, and his integration into it wasn’t without growing pains. Whilst being close to blood relatives was something he could attest to actually enjoying; the rest? Not so much. The town was too quiet, the air was too fresh, the strangers were too… friendly. What eventually came to be however, from multiple school expulsions, the very odd brush with the law, and the learning curve of a new environment, was a new outlook for Micah… one that would ultimately lead him to sign his name on a piece of paper that would change the course of his haphazard life forever. Through the span of history, military influence had never strayed far from the Connor family name. Roseanne had lost her low-ranking husband to a IED in Panama afterall in 1988… the same time that 5-year-old Micah lost his hero.

Maybe it was the claustrophobic town itself, or the closed minded people within it, but Teirnan Williams never liked Harbour Bay. Perhaps it may be a slight exaggeration to assume that even in the earliest stages of his life he had hated the place with such passion – but it is surely what he’ll choose to tell you regardless. Born into a loving, stable family no less, he was in fact once was enamoured by the peaceful shoreline and easy way of life. With a tight community that thrived on supporting one another through all walks of life, came a certain sense of freedom that would be unattainable in larger scale towns or cities. With admiration of the locals bestowed on him, as a child, Teirnan could do no wrong  despite his wayward personality.

It was somewhere in the midst of being forced to work weekends at the local bookstore, and pretending to be a caring youth leader for the local church summer scheme as a teenager that Tiernan decided that he needed to get out, for definite. He simply wasn’t cut out for the perfectly Christian way of life that his parents were absorbed by, and life was certainly more interesting when one included a little flare of sinful desire every so often as he soon learned. In the long run, university proved to be the escape that he so desperately wanted, and his acceptance into the University of the Arts in London simply couldn’t have occurred at a better time for multiple reasons.

Tiernan excelled his in studies, not merely because of some wondrous God given talent, but rather because he had no other choice. Returning home served as the possible consolation prize to end them all, and as such, when he graduated with an impressive portfolio of work to match, he jumped at the opportunity to take up a full time post with Minx Creative. Throughout it all, despite how months quickly turned to years, contact with his family never fell short of exemplarily. Tiernan’s lack physical presence in his hometown in comparison however was ever expanding, prompting them to visit him in London more often than the latter. Of course questions were raised as to why, but one way or the other, an answer was never really given.

Only in cases of extreme emergencies were private calls permitted to be taken during working hours at Minx. So when the usually vivacious receptionist turned up at his office door with an apologetic look on her face, Tiernan had automatically expected bad news – just not this kind. His father had described what few details were available about the death of his little cousin Jacob, his mother trying her best not to sob too desperately in the background, and for once Tiernan needed no coaxing or persuasion to return home. Dropping everything, he has returned to Harbour Bay despite every reservation of the past. For if his personal troubles in the town had any decency, they wouldn’t choose now as the perfect time to raise their ugly heads. Helping his extended family remains the only thing on his agenda for now.
