AU where everything is more or less the same as in our universe and the only difference is that back in 2010s Samflam reached mainstream popularity and made a significant impact on popular culture worldwide
Autistic Anime Boys Side B Round 2 Match 8
Who is the best autistic boy?
Ranpo Edogawa (Bungou Stray Dogs)
Masayoshi Hazama (Samurai Flamenco)
Propaganda:
Ranpo -
"Picks up a bunch of things that other people don’t notice which made him feel really alone as a kid. Then this old man (he’s like in his 20s) walks into his life, basically adopts him and tells Ranpo that he’s smarter than everyone else and they’re just stupid. Founds a detective agency just to put this guy’s intelligence to good use. Ranpo can solve a crime in under a minute but cannot use public transportation. My favorite boy."
Masayoshi -
"Has a special interest in superheroes and has a huge collection of superhero merchandise and can recite his favorite superhero movie word for word along with all of the fight choreography. Became incredibly apathetic throughout high school after finding out superheroes aren't real. His dream to be a superhero is so strong that it literally alters the world and causes aliens to invade earth so he can be a superhero."
Long time no see, long time no art ...
Cheap tools, mistakes everywhere, Great love and Joy 🥰
Recently I have been re-watching Samurai Flamenco with full attention for like 3 times ( plus 2 times in the past ) and more times watching since I am picking various things each time with more understanding and feelings, I have fully come to love the series, the character, everything it has to offer, stir so much in me.
Busy days/ busy life, difficulties in many aspects of my life. I eventually had to give up all precious simple and luxurious art tools of many kinds which were carefully choosen and compiled for a long time .... And I wasn't allowed to draw openly due to endless reasons...
SamFlam moved my heart and mind, and so my inner passion for drawing/ coloring/ creating things a great deal...
I only have a black lining pen left , combine with borrowed cheap colored pencils and some sheets of paper.
Despite all the mistakes, lack of tools, pigments and time ,
I drew them with Happiness and Love, moments filled with long lost Joy welcome my heart. Thank you for existing....
P/S: Masayoshi is a Libra ♎️ officially ( we are Libra buddies yayy 😆) , but Goto is unknown, according to fan it is May 10th, does that mean he is a Taurus ♉️? I love him and him so much 🥰
P/S 2: not much time to draw, let alone pour my thoughts on myriad things I have noticed and loved in this series....Maybe later...

10/15/16 vs 1/15/26
the first one is also a redraw but i dont have an exact date of the original, and the 10 year gap is more interesting lol
it's not something i regularly go back to but there are many ways in which samflam has shaped my current tastes, and i look back on it fondly
Restorative justice and community in Samurai Flamenco
Content warning: discussion of police brutality, mass shootings, and systemic violence
Spoilers for Samurai Flamenco
Samurai Flamenco is a story about the intersection of community and justice. The main character, Hazama Masayoshi, is intent on living out the ideals he learned from the hero stories that captured his imagination as a child. Their values guide his actions, so much so that he decides to become one himself, under the moniker Samurai Flamenco. As he navigates this choice, he begins to learn that heroes and villains are parts of their community, not forces outside of it. This causes him to re-evaluate what justice means to him and how he wants to practice it. This process closes the gap he sees between himself and his community, has him reject violence, and roots his sense of justice in love and empathy rather than punishment. According to the logic of the story, the world around Masayoshi is being shaped by his unspoken desires (at least until the final arc). This means a viewer can retroactively read revelations about Masayoshi as a character onto how the narrative develops. To put it lightly, at the beginning of the story, Masayoshi is a highly privileged individual. He was scouted as a model in high school and lives in a nice apartment at the top of a building, with sufficient wealth to have an extensive collection of hero paraphernalia. This distance between him and the street is a very literal barrier that serves as a metaphorical one as well. Masayoshi is well-meaning, but his wealth, fame, and isolation from his community restricts his empathy. He sees his role as a hero as distinct from being a normal person.

Calling All Flamengers! (...Again!)
As part of its 12 Days of Christmas sale, the UK-based anime distributor Anime Limited is offering a MASSIVE discount on Collector's Editions Blu-Rays, including their Samurai Flamenco one, which is now LESS THAN £10, specifically £8.33 (~$10.50 USD). This is much less than the £25 they discounted the set to for its 10th anniversary back in October!
The entire 22-episode series is contained across 4 discs. The only noted on-disc extras are the creditless OPs and EDs. All of this is packaged in a decorative rigid slipcase.
Anime Limited does ship outside the UK, but you will need a region-free Blu-Ray player to play discs if your region is not of the B code (comprising Europe, the Middle East, and Africa).
While it doesn't specifically say when this sale ends, since it's part of the 12 Days of Christmas sale, we can assume it will last until December 12, UK time, so don't delay! This is the only official English physical release of the anime.
