Ben Nye Workshop @ Nigel's Beauty Emporium
I was stoked to get into the Ben Nye Workshop in time. I take advantage that I am so close to Nigel's Beauty Emporium and almost missed my opportunity to get into this room full of knowledge... but I made it. I heard there ended up being a waiting list and everything!
The workshop featured Debbie Muller, Brian Sipe and Dana Nye on Wednesday, November 20th. Every seat was filled and we began promptly at 11:15am. Ben Nye was super sweet and greeted everyone with a hello and a hand shake. Debbie's voice was cool and fun to listen to and she was sharing a bunch of information with all of us. So I paid close attention... more than I ever did in high school, that's for sure.
We even had special guest Brian Sipe come by in between Debbie's looks and show us quick special fx work that was way cool. He made that poor girl look tore up in no time!!
Back to Debbie and she is now taking the very natural look to more dramatic, but all with HD filming in mind when choosing her specific Ben Nye products to achieve the desired look.
Class was supposed to be only 2 hours... but I knew better than that. 3 1/2 hours later I emerged... a bit shakey from low blood sugar.... but not enough to keep me from redeeming my $45 admission fee in Ben Nye products first (plus my 20% artist discount). I grabbed a bottle of the famous Luxury Powder in Banana, Final Seal Matte Makeup Sealer, LiquiSet Waterproof Mixing Liquid, and Media Pro HD Eye Definer stack.
I had already used the Banana Powder before... I was shown The Banana Way back in 99 when I went to The Studio Makeup Academy, when it was on the lot of Gower Studios. It has been a hot minute since I've had it though... I had been so immersed with tattooing that some things just fell though the cracks. I know. Don't judge me.
The LiquiSet is awesome for changing a shadow to liner and setting brows.
I need the final seal for those hot and long music videos.... I need to keep that face in place!
And my new obsession.... The Media Pro HD Eye Definer stack. These are creamy and SUPER pigmented! You can easily line the eye or smudge it as a base for shadow. There are 5 colors in the stack: Black, Espresso, Aubergine, Taupe and Soft Grey. My new favorite find :)
I had a great experience and I can't hardly stand it until I can go to my next workshop and new makeup finds!!
