Grief and Grievance.
Grief is the emotion that is truly integrative. It puts ourself in the middle and allows us to feel the burden and, in the best outcome, look around for those who can help us bear that burden. And the communal act of sharing a burden has been part of mythology and belief structures for millennia.
Grievance is an outward rejection of burden. It is enmeshed with victimhood and a sense that we are continuously being wronged and that wrong must be shed. It is rot at the core of our humanness suggesting that the only true state is alone and unburdened.
