If Harley had a choice, she would have left Gotham and never looked back. She almost did; living in New York was so much easier, no haunting memories repeatedly coming back to her every time she turned a corner, no fear of running into old acquaintances or being recognized. Here, even without her greasepaint and lipstick - hell, even her hair was up in a ponytail rather than its trademark pigtails - she felt on edge, timid. Terrified.
But she'd left things behind, important things, things that she couldn't just up and forget about. So a flight back to Gotham it was. She'd gotten Rosie to watch her babies for now, at the woman's grudging agreement, and she was just trying to scrape together her last remaining possessions from the place her and the Joker had shared before he could come back and find her there.
Leaving him had taken a lot of courage. Courage she hadn't been sure she'd had. Swallowing her fear had been the worst part, but it had been worth it. She was so much happier in New York City, anyway. Happier than she ever could have been, had she stayed with Mr. J. Nervously, she shoved Bud's chew toy into her bag as well, double checking that she had everything before she made for the door again.
