Sâmbătă(Saturday) is a day dedicated to the dead, thus the lady assosciated with the day is very busy. She wears down a pair of iron shoes per week with how much she wonders around the world collecting sould that got lost on their way to the next world. It is the day the heavens open and the dead can look back on the living, so it is good to show them you still keep them in your heart by giving alms in theri memory and lighting candles for them. Sâmbăta also shares the name with the primodial river that springs from the roots of the tree of life in heaven, circles the world 9 times before turining into a river of fire upon reaching hell. All the water in the world comes from and eventually ends up in the Sâmbăta river, but nothing that goes down on its waters ever comes back. Thus, it is thought to be good to do all the cleaning and washing on Saturday cause the water will carry away all your troubles and they won't be able to return.
