Someone fucked up. It was as simple as that. And when someone fucked up, the laws of cause and effect demanded that someone get fucked for it. That was where he came in. The only person in the Shatterdome with more power than Mom, this former Army General turned United Governments Liaison to the PPDC was put there to keep the program in line lest they suffer the consequences. Admittedly, he doesn’t have a say in how the Jaeger Program is run (no matter how dismal he thinks it is) but when it messes up as horribly as it has in recent history, he has more than enough authority to dole out the death warrants, so to speak. With the Remembrance Day attacks, the December blackouts, and the New Years attacks, the United Governments has finally sanctioned him to weed out the weak. He’s already fired the Science Chief LACHMAN (AL) for the part (or rather, the lack thereof) that he played in the blackouts, and now he’s gunning for the various emotionally compromised Jaeger pilots in the program’s service, their Ranger Chief HOWELL (TN), Head of Psychology KRAUSS (AC) for clearing them for service in the first place, and the person with all command responsibility who let the hell hole go to shit: WALLACE (HM). COEVORDEN doesn’t shy away from the blood that’ll be on his hands or the unpopularity it’ll get him with the rest of the PPDC. He doesn’t care. Besides, if he gets his way with the United Governments (and he’s very close too, mind you) the whole program will be shut in a year or two and the world’s focus would be on getting the hell out of dodge instead of fighting for it.
