Dr. Ford Peters: Nathan's father. Archaeologist. Huge nerd. Dr. Daniel Peters: Nathan's father. Pediatrician. Very soothing presence. Cassidy Wells: College friend of the main group. Young mother. Lesbian cis female. Tries to stay positive despite everything. Ace Hemmek: College friend of the main group. A little younger than everyone else. Agender/gender neutral. Very independent. Tyler Mason: Head of the GSA. Tries to be positive, but is very sad inside. Kind of a mystery. Rob: You know that one middle aged person who's back in college? Yeah that's Rob.

Sam, explaining why Alex's hair is dyed pink

Tw: Slurs, suicide, transphobia, homophobia, alcohol, drug use     Sam stared into the mirror as panic bubbled up inside of him.  He slowly reached up to touch his hair. His hair that had been down to his waist before he had cut it all off no more than 10 minutes ago. Oh god, his parents were going to kill him.     “Lynn! It’s time for dinner!” Sam heard his mom call in the sickly sweet voice she used when she was trying to be a good mother. He winced at the name. Right, Lynn. That’s who he was. Slowly, Sam left the bathroom, only speeding up when he heard his mom yell again.     “I’m coming!” He called back as he pulled on a hat before entering the kitchen. Sam accepted a plate and a kiss on the cheek from his mom and went to dish up. He froze at the sound of his father’s voice.     “Ah, food. Looks good Sharon.” Sam heard his father say and then the next words were directed at him, “Why are you always wearing that hat?” He demanded.     “I like it…” Sam nervously readjusted it.     “You’re inside the damn house, take it off.” And Sam did. There was a moment of silence as his parents just looked at him. And then his dad spoke again, “Where the fuck is your hair, girl?”    “Boy.” The word hung in the air.     “What?”     “Boy. I’m a boy.” Sam held his breath as he waited for a response. Then he got one he wasn’t expecting: laughter. Sam could feel the tears come to his eyes as his dad started laughing at him. Sam jolted as his mom spoke.     “Lynn dear, are you feeling okay?” She pressed her hand against his forehead as Sam’s father continued to laugh. “You don’t feel warm… Oh, you’re beautiful hair… Maybe we should take you to a doctor, you’re obviously delusional. Robert, stop laughing and go dial up the hospital.” Robert stopped laughing at her request but instead went to pour himself a drink. Dread filled Sam.     “No. I don’t think I will. Our daughter,” He stressed the word, “doesn’t need medical help. She needs to stop spending time with sinners and fags like her brother was.” The room seemed to go cold at the mention of their older child. Sam’s brother Abraham who had killed himself two months earlier. Shannon seemed to deflate as she took a couple steps back. Robert, not seeming to care about what he had done when he had said those words, refilled his glass. It was whiskey, Sam could tell after too many years of seeing it drunk.     “I think you should go to your room for awhile, Lynn.” His mom suggested and Sam knew what that meant. His dad was going to get drunk and his mom would get high. Sam nodded and silently went to his room. Nothing good would happen tonight.
