#ThrowbackThursday to playing #KamiSama from @kolossalgames at #SaltCon with @laminatingboardgames & @jordanmars1989 got a sneak peak too! Everyone picked their Kami with unique player powers for placing shrines that are used for area control, to gain favor or nature points, & to complete annual goals. But who wants to just be a Kami when you can be crowned Kami-Sama, chief deity of the land? So the battle for victory points began! In this 3 Year seasonal game, the farming village always starts the year. Each player places their shrines using their available action cubes (3 first year, 4 second, & 5 in the third) in the village in front of them then the board turns to allow each player access to the village on their right. Some Kami powers let you access other villages which can drastically alter your plans. You may think you have area control locked down in the Fishing village until a Kami opponent knocks out a temple in your orthogonally adjacent row for majority. Gah! Without that, the villagers will award first pick of that village's cards to the person who now has the longest orthogonal row. These cards award favor or nature points, village tokens or end game VP. Once those are awarded, it's time to score the Favor and Nature tracks for the one with the least amount of points which means balance is the key. I played as the Western Wind, a Kami with the power to move a shrine into any village after using a remove action. This power really helped me rack up the village tokens for set scoring at 6 points with each single token scoring 1 VP at end game scoring by completing the annual goals. #WindPower! After 3 years of managing your village influence to the best of your ability, it's time determine the best Kami for the honor of Kama-Sama! Wind won this time but there are plenty of other Kamis vying for diety status so it's time to play again!
