I recently finished season 2 of the disastrous life of Saiki K. and when I was meandering into the fandom I noticed there seems to be a divide between the Teruhashi x Saiki fans and the Aro/Ace Saiki fans.Β
But hereβs a hot take! The two donβt have to be mutually exclusive. Saiki could STILL BE aro/ace while having a close relationship with Teruhashi!
There is also the middle-ground of him being just one or the other, but since I donβt know enough about being aromantic to make a headcannon about it withoutΒ it maybe sounding patronising/ill-informed Iβll leave that for others to build, but an asexual partnership is definitely plausible.
My evidence, from whatβs seen in the anime at least,Β
During season 1 he saw her surface thoughts and they seemed shallow. He interpreted them asΒ β I want what I canβt haveβ which turned him away but by season 2 he sees how hard she is trying in everything and how she is just a different kind of kind than the one she plays to the masses. Those feelings he has about her have the potential to lead somewhere.
Also Iβve been looking at this from a personal perspective and as an ace person Saikiβs potential for a relationship sort of resonated with me and reminded me about what finding someone you like/getting into a relationship felt like without it feeling too forced.
