Sugi’s adventures in Hong Kong day 04
Yesterday was our last day in Hong Kong and we mostly packed things up and prepared to head home. I had to buy some snacks to share with my coworkers since it’s something that is expected of me since I went on a trip. Then when I was charging my IPOD it died so we ended up buying one at the hotel’s mall. We also got a little bit of food and then took a private shuttle to Hong Kong airport. We got a little more to eat at a pizza place after we went through security and customs. Then we were on the four hour flight back to Japan. The flight was delayed a little and we got back around 8:20 or so. Then of course we had to go through customs again and then we took a 2 hour bus ride back to Himeji and then a short train ride home. In the end we got home around midnight.
Today we have a few things to do but we are going to stay in the Himeji area and then tomorrow we’ll probably head elsewhere in Japan to do things. I am looking forward to enjoying the rest of my week off before I have to return to that boss of mine. At least I only have two more weeks left with her.
Sugi’s adventures in Hong Kong day 03
Yesterday was a more laid back day. We started out hanging out online and talking with people from home and then we got some lunch at a place in the hotel. I tried duck and it tastes pretty good but it’s not anything I’ll feel bad about not having in Japan. I certainly don’t think it’s worth the high price it is worth in Japan. Anyway, after that Poppy headed out to try to find a motorcycle place and I stuck around the hotel area and looked in the various shops. I looked around in an Anime store they had and ended up buying what I assume is an Ereri bag for SnK but I thought it looked cute so I got it anyway. I also got a small sticker (or maybe it’s just a wallet picture) of Levi and a charm. Turns out it’s all Japanese stuff but I guess that’s because Anime is popular here. In the toy store I visited they sold Gundams and Anime figures as well as some Disney figures. I didn’t buy anything though because I thought they’d be too big for the suitcase we brought. They have a model kit of Eren in titan form though, I thought about it but decided not to get him. As much as I love Eren’s titan form.
When Poppy got back from looking for the motorcycle place we took a dip in the hotel’s pool. It was fun and I got some excercise in by swimming a few laps around the pool. After that we got dressed and went to a seafood place for dinner. I say seafood but we ended up getting sweet and sour pork. It was pretty good and we did order some shrimp toast to have with it. We have some left over that we plan to have for lunch before we leave for the airport today. After dinner we went to get a massage. Poppy only wanted a foot massage and I wanted a full body massage but because the women there didn’t speak much English and I sadly know very little Chinese they originally mixed us up. We were able to clear up the misunderstanding in the end though and I got a full body massage. We bought drinks at the 7-11 and then we headed back to the hotel. Today we are going to head back to Japan and then I’ll have about four more days of me week off left before I have to deal with my boss again. At least I’ll only have two weeks to put up with her.

So, what did I buy in Hong Kong?
*laughs nervously*
It’s all Japaneses stuff...
Sugi’s adventues in Hong Kong day 02
Yesterday after checking in online we headed to the hotel lobby and got some information about the train system and how to get to where we wanted to go. After that we got lunch at Pizza hut, yes I know an American restaurant but we were just trying to get some food quick before we left. Sadly, it wasn’t quick but the food was decent. We headed to the train station nearby and then we got on the train to ride to central station. The trains here seem nosier than the trains in Japan and unlike Japan you are allowed to talk on your cellphones but since it is so noisy people are there shouting on their cellphones which seems a little odd.
After the train ride we had to walk a little distance and a lot of it was up hills so it was quite difficult in the heat but we finally got to our destination. A place called the peak. It was very crowded though so we had to stand in a line where we were barely moving for more than 30 minutes. I was light-headed and felt almot like I was going to faint, probably a mixture of exhaustion and dehydration. So I bought a water bottle and tried to sit on one of the ledges. At that point a staff member came over to tell me not to sit on the ledge but then seeing that I sat on the floor the woman asked if I was ok. Fortunately for us, hearing I wasn’t feeling well they took us aside and let us be first in line or the tram that we were all waiting in line for. That way there was no chance that I’d have to stand on the tram ride. The ride up the peak itself was decent but not quite worth the long wait.
We headed to the harbor area after that since we had a buy one get one free ticket for a ferry that the airport gave us. The walk was a little long but we made it to the maritime museum nearby. I was too tired so I waited for Poppy at the cafe and got some fruit and peppermint tea to have while I was waiting. I was able to check in with a friend online since I was finally able to get wifi to work using the cafe’s wifi on my phone. Anyway, when Poppy got back we prepared to take the cruise. The cruise was nice, we got to see Hong Kong’s buildings and learn some about the culture and we also got to see Kowloon which is the island our hotel is on but it is a part of Hong Kong as well. The only bad thing was it was right at dinnertime and we didn’t know they wouldn’t give us food. We struggled to find a restaurant afterwards and ultimately ended up walking to a mall and eating Mcdonalds for dinner. I hope to have some more Hong Kong food today and we know some places nearby so we’ll do our best to get there. After dinner we made our way home on the train and then walked back to our hotel. It was about 10 at night so I was pretty tired. We might be a tad more laid back today but we’ll still try to enjoy Hong Kong.
Sugi’s adventures in Hong Kong day 01
Yesterday Poppy and I woke up at 5:30 and packed a few more things before we headed out to the station. We started out taking the Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka and then from Shin-osaka we took the subway to Namba (in Osaka) and then a train to Kansai airport. The flight itself was only about 3 hours but we were pretty tired a slept a little bit on the flight. We arrived in Hong Kong around 2PM their time. Hong Kong is an hour behind Japan so my watch said 3PM. Anyway, when e first got there we had to go through customs and that usual airport stuff. The people there gave us a warm welcome and we were given free wi-fi, a pen, and rubber duckies. Another person gave us free paper airplanes when we were on our way to the bus.
We had to buy bus tickets and at first the woman who was helping us had to call the hotel because the voucher was in Japanese and understandably the woman couldn’t read Japanese. So we rode the bus to our hotel and checked in and then we ventured out to get some dinner. Our dinner was pork over ramen noodles and on the way back to the hotel we picked up some muffins for dessert.. We didn’t do too much yesterday since we were pretty tired but we plan to do a lot of fun things and eat some good food today.
