#SadStats: Toronto FC's "Record Setting Season"
We've seen a handful of people trying to point out the positives in the latest wasted season in Toronto, as they broke the team record for number of wins and points.
Only problem: the team has played four seasons that had 30 games. What happens when you normalize the seasons using PPG? #SadStats, that's what:
Toronto FC will finish with 1.29 PPG if they beat New England on the road, 1.24 if they tie them, or 1.21 if they lose. They cannot mathematically hit the 1.3 PPG mark set in 2009.
(Sorry, Kurt.)
