but zane’s just blaming himself for this happening. he didn’t plan for a betrayal and he let his guard down. maybe he did something wrong and ruined a friendship that seemed forged so strongly. something. (i had thought of the caption long and hard and... really wanted to portray this lol)

idk what the backstory would be. maybe it was a way to take down the crimson raiders, to get that collar on amara? maybe it was specifically to hurt zane and finally kill him or be a way to capture him and take him off planet, back to whoever had the worst grudge against him.

but amara’s internal struggle... maybe she’s aware, maybe she isn’t. maybe she’s trying her hardest to let zane know she doesn’t want to hurt him, but she just can’t control herself, that whatever was happening, it was clawing into her very being and eating her alive-... 

i do, however, want to imagine it being a situation where zane CAN’T get himself to fight back. he doesn’t want to, he can’t. usually his mind goes ‘fight!’ but he just wants to flee so he doesn’t have to hurt his friend.
