“Why the cheese are you flashing at me if you won’t open?” Randy grumbled as he wrapped his fingers around the opposite covers of the Nomicon and struggled fruitlessly to pull it open; he didn’t have to worry about being overheard since he was practically in the middle of nowhere, as the Skunk Pine sapling, not surprisingly, didn’t get a lot of visitors besides him—and Howard, when he could drag Howard along, which was almost never. “There’s nothing here; there’s never anything here, so it’s not like there’s danger all of a sudden, and if there were, you’d open, like a good Nomicon, instead of—”

The red flashes started coming more rapidly as the book slipped from Randy’s grip and flew across the clearing, only to hit something that said, “Ow!” and was suddenly a boy around his age instead of open air like it had been a moment before.

Nino was definitely thinking it was something they could pick up, especially if he could get some tips from the Americans; the one kid’s costume glowed, and the other melted into the shadows if he stood still for any length of time (not that that seemed to happen), and the last one had a wicked dragon costume that was so huge and realistic that Nino would think he were akumatized if he weren’t being so friendly.
