Finrod/Turgon: My rarepair-that-shouldn’t-be-a-rarepair!! I love a super repressed Turgon that Finrod has to coax into embracing his sexuality. You could focus on just these two, or...

Amárië/Elenwë/Finrod/Turgon: ...you could go all-out and write them as part of an OT4! Whatever you do, Elenwë should be relevant to Turgon’s backstory (unless he somehow falls for Finrod before she enters the picture?). I don’t headcanon Finrod and Amárië as being actually in love; a situation where they’re mutual beards, or friends with benefits, or something else similar would be great. My favorite combination of these four is: established vanilla Elenwë/Turgon where they are deeply in love and mutually supportive, past Elenwë/Amárië where they still have fond feelings for each other but are no longer “together,” Finrod pining after Turgon but not ever believing he would love him back / repressed bisexual Turgon terrified his secret gay feelings for Finrod will ruin his marriage, kinky friends with benefits Finrod/Amárië where they’re both more interested in pursuing relationships with their same gender but have a firm, abiding platonic (or queerplatonic!) relationship with each other that also includes sex. Erinti was the daughter of Varda and Manwë. In later drafts she became Ilmarë, but originally she was also very associated with flowers and trees as well as stars. She was one of the few children of the Valar who went out into the world and interacted with the elves.

Nielíqui was the daughter of Oromë and Vána. She liked to dance in her father’s woods, and was associated with flowers, especially snowdrops and daffodils.

Ómar Amillo was the youngest of the Valar, master of language and song. He would often sing for Nielíqui, who danced to his music; or he would sing to the harp-playing of his brother Salmar. Ómar and Salmar went with Erinti to dwell among the elves on Tol Eressëa, and Salmar went further, fighting in the wars of Beleriand.

Nielíqui and Ómar did not survive through later drafts, and Salmar was downgraded to a minor Maia of Ulmo. I like to picture them all as Maiar: Erinti in the service Varda and Manwë (but as a separate character from Ilmarë), Nielíqui in the service of Vána and Oromë, Salmar in service to Ulmo, and Ómar in service to Nessa (though he could be attached to someone else). It’s natural to think of Ómar and Nielíqui together, given their relationship in the text, and since Erinti was with him and Salmar, it’s easy for me to place her with Salmar. But I kind of headcanon that Salmar (like Ulmo his master) is aromantic, so maybe he’s not married to Erinti. And we can always use more femslash, so Erinti and Nielíqui are also a great pairing. And why not throw Ómar in there with them? Basically, these four are very interesting to me in their various combinations, and I’d love to see something about them brought into the later legendarium. Would rather not have Ómar and Salmar paired together; and if Salmar is involved with Erinti, maybe don’t make their relationship very romantic.
