Lacey: But Brent, youāre the one that told me to be direct.
Brent: Sometimes I just make stuff up. Geez, youād think people would know that by now.
āItās a joke. You see, I became a doctor because of the movie Patch Adams...ā
Houseās take on: āHow To Escape Unwanted Cameras.ā
Well...s4e07 what an episode! So first we have the mothballs experiment and Jean seems almost pleased at the end of the scene and that was really really brilliant! Iām ever so sorry for Cec, though. Heās such a great character and a very good man! When Cec says heās seen Mrs.Blake the night of the murder it kind of surprised me hearing Lucien asking āMei Lin?ā Excuse me Lucien but how many MrsBlake do you know? š because technically you didnāt fully proposed to Jean and she couldnāt answer to your unasked question (because...knock knock helloooo your not deceased wife appeared at the most inconvenient moment)
Big shout out to Charlie and Rose for showing Jean the pictures with Mei Lin and Alderton. He really is like a son to them!
Mei Lin at the police station and accusing Lucien of keeping her in a hotel while heās still living with his housekeeper was a really low blow...if I remember correctly she was the one who decided to go, for so many reasons, but still she was the one who left. I really felt for Lucien there...it was so embarrassing above all with Frank witnessing it all. She wants them to start their life again somewhere else but he just canāt imagine to live anywhere else...Ballarat is his home, Jean is his home...he cannot just āun-loveā her...he just canāt. In fact, in the next scene itās clear that he canāt stay away from her, even if itās just to ask her a question and he doesnāt call her from downstairs, he looks for her and knocks on her bedroom door...I think weāve seen him in Jeanās room only once before, in season 1 when he gives her the jade brooch. The scene is really overwhelming, looking at him waiting for her permission to go inside and then he smiles but it soon falters and she doesnāt even bother with the dressing gown. Sheās not wearing make up either, sheās not wearing her usual āarmourā, but sheās not less strong for this and sheās beautiful. She answers politely and heās trying so hard not to touch her (because she asked and he respects her, loves her too much to hurt her) and so he retreats . It seems like if he wants to say something, but then he just goes away š he doesnāt push her...and I love him for it! Jean is also the bravest woman I know, she brings the pics with her and she goes to the hotel, Iām guessing she wants to confront Mei Lin but then Alderton appears (and Iāll repeat it forever...that man scares me!).
Lucien and his mothballs solve the case and our precious Jean is drinking whiskey?! She need liquid courage once again, because of course she wants to show him the pictures...but here he is Lucien Blake himself making declarations in that stuttering way of his, with that broken voice that āthe past is just that...itās pastā and that heās āfinally ready to follow his heartā and of course the bloody telephone rings and theyāre interrupted once again. The next scene had me shout from the rooftops āthank god for the show writersā for these characters being so very true to themselves, especially Lucien when he doesnāt give in when Mei Lin tries to seduce him! āWe mustnātā I clapped at that...thatās my Lucien! And then Jean is still sitting there waiting for him and then he explaining her what heās just been told and after that heās just so furious that the last line scares me half to death!
