Yesterday afternoon I walked down to my local. It was a lovely warm and sunny day. As I walked down through the fields l looked at the beautiful scenery and I listened to the sounds of nature, and I thought of our S-S. There were sad thoughts at our loss and there were joyful memories of mine and the Tribe's interactions with that special lady. My intentions were to have a couple of pints and then my last drink would be a shot of Tequila to honour and send off S-S in an appropriate manner. It was a good intention. But we all know what can happen with those, don't we? My two pints ended up as three. The 19:30 bus home was due soon so I asked for a shot of Tequila, with some salt and a slice of lime. I then discovered that my local had no Tequila! Disappointed that my plan had failed, but also pragmatic that I could try again another time, I started to gather my things to catch the bus. That's when a good friend of mine said, "Come on you. We're going to go find you a pub that sells Tequila because I know that you need to give your friend a proper send off, and now is better than later." So we jumped in his van and he took me up the road to another pub. No Tequila! Off we set again to the next village. The first pub we tried there also had no Tequila. My rural area can be lacking in the essentials sometimes ;p The other village pub had some. It wasn't a good one, they had no salt, and the lime was a pre-packaged slice from a tub, so it wasn't fresh. But my friend bought me one anyway and I raised it to S-S, wished her all the best, and downed it in one. So, I thought, that was it. Nope! My friend had decided that wasn't good enough. Off we set again. Up the valley to another pub that was in the village I grew up in. We were in luck. A good Tequila, (by our rural standards, lol), some salt, and fresh lime! He bought me two! Down the hatch they went accompanied by libations to S-S. I bet she was laughing at our antics :) We got back in his van and I assumed he was going to drop me at home. Wrong again! We ended up at a friend's of his. They were sat outside around a fire and made me very welcome. After two cans of lager and much playing with their gorgeous dog, he took me home. I can't thank him enough. What a nice man and a wonderful friend! It was a good send off for S-S and I feel more at peace now 💜
