Kage is actually great if you don’t take him too seriously!
Don’t think of him as “Edgelord Evil Ryu,” think of him as a dumb monster boy who just gained sentience this morning and is trying really, really hard to be a big scary villain, to the point where he overdoes it a bit. He’s doing his best, and I, for one, adore him.
Anyway, the joke here is that Ryu is a nice guy and Kage is literally the physical manifestation of Satsui no Hado, so when he says he wants Ryu to “embrace” the Killing Intent, Ryu immediately assumes that the grumpy monster boy needs a hug!
Boy, I love them.
