Problem is, neither of us are capable of not having it get weird. First, I doubled up on him one week. Then he returned and one of the âwordsâ was an asterisks, immediately followed by a âwordâ being a picture of an amphibian. Now Iâve given him a maximum number of characters and I have an anti-word to work around.
Itâs not one-upsmanship and I hesitate to call it an arms race... It feels more like watching undersea creatures evolution at ridiculous speed. And itâs ridiculous. Single cell organisms develop, eat each other, then grow shells... But then rather than a predator evolving mouthparts to break the shell, theyâve developed seductive dances that convince the protomollusk to shed its shell for mating.
I donât even think weâve reached the Oxygenation Crisis yet either. Before long, drabbles will need to be metacommentaries on the absurdity of words themselves as an imperfect expression of oneâs experiences entirely transcribed on potatoes. I give it six weeks before itâs completely incomprehensible. Canât wait!
