Hollywood on Netflix is so darkly funny and deeply painful because there’s all these black, non-white, and/or gay folks trying to make these important stories about humanity, that are relevant and moving and thought-provoking, and you’ve got a handful of okayish white people with small amounts of power who are willing to maybe try to help them do that, but it’s ultimately in the hands of the one rich white dude at the top who only cares about maintaining the status quo and making a profit -
- and then you blink and remember this is set in 1947 and not today.
and you just wanna cry because really?? we’ve taken baby steps forward in the 70 years since the era in which this show is set.
