Earlier today I published an ask about Ryan/Ry and blacktridenthq. While I stand by the information given about Ryan, there was also fingers pointed towards the other admin of the group, sunshine. Sunshine reached out to me and we talked a little. She wanted to speak about the fact that her name was involved in all of this because she has done great work to distance herself from it.
Sunshine, like many others, either co-admins or members of his groups, was also manipulated by Ryan. At the time, when blacktridenthq was active, she remained silent about the abuse some suffered because of Ryan and it’s something she wishes she hadn’t done. She has taken great steps to apologizes to those who have been hurt by her silence and her actions, or lack of. In situations like these, it’s hard to know who stand by someone by choice and who is being manipulated by them. In this situation, and knowing what seems to be only the tip of the iceberg of Ryan’s abuse and manipulation, I do not think it’s appropriate to blame her. There was even a moment when she realized what was going on and she left Ryan’s circle. She hasn’t been in touch with him nor wishes to be.
Because of this, I will not post anything that blames sunshine and I will be extremely wary of pointing information about former co-admins of his. If he was to create another group, and have a co-admin who is aware of his past behaviour, then things will be different.
Since the last thing I want is to harm any victims, I want to apologize to sunshine about having her mixed up in this. I’m grateful for the conversation we had and for the fact that she reached out to me.
