summary:  Nine months later, Yusaku and Ryoken meet again.

A nice sunny day with a clear blue sky, a tasty hot dog and coffee, and... Homura-Kun right there with him! This day couldn’t get any better for Tsukiya. He was in a genuinely good mood, swinging his legs back and forth in the seat he was in.

“Are you sure we have to stay inside today?” 

The retort was from a huff 6 year old, his hands pressed against a window he could barely lift himself up on his tiptoes to see out of. It wasn’t raining, so it wasn’t the weather. It wasn’t too cold either, so why was he being made to stay inside when the yard just outside the front door seemed like a much better choice? So Takeru pouted again, this time turning to glance over his shoulder at the one responsible.

Getting Takeru to leave school without waiting around for him had been a challenge—more of a challenge than Yusaku had wanted to admit it was. In the end, he’d had to make a last minute deal with Kusanagi to lure Takeru away with the offer of a free lunch. It was definitely something he’d need to remember to pay Kusanagi back for.

For now though, Yusaku found himself waiting just outside the school’s front gate scanning the crowd for a glimpse of the familiar white hair he was waiting for. The meeting hadn’t been a guaranteed thing, but-

If there’s any baggage that came with traveling a lot, it had to be pharaoh. Of course judai hadn't asked to take him along but ended up doing so due to the cat and datoujiki  sneaking into his bag when he’d First left, now pharaoh had run off, in a town they’d only just arrived in a few days ago which really wasn’t ideal. 

He’d been searching For a couple of hours now and that was when he heard that familiar meow. Yet in an unexpected place.

To Judai's surprise pharaoh had brushed himself up against the leg of a boy with White and lilac hair, Pharaoh never usually brushed himself up against strangers nor anyone nowadays so this definitely was weird.

“Excuse me...?”

If there was one thing Mako didn’t catch herself doing often, it was stopping someone with a light tap on their shoulder - Twice as much so when she was running late for work already as it was. But with the sky above practically black with clouds threatening to downpour, she couldn’t help but hold out her umbrella to him, smile small but present on her lips.

                                The words didn’t register at first – his mind was still stuck inside the terminal he was working in, too focused on solving the puzzle of where has his partner gone to. But as the phrase finally sank in, his head shot up to look at the speaker who sat across from him on the deck’s table. The blinding sun obscured Ryoken’s features, so deciphering his facial features for any sign of mockery and trickery.

   { ☼ } - He mirrored the blinking with his own, his usual fiery gaze clouded with uncertainty and tainted with mild fear. Flame wasn’t attached to his arm, and Soulburner’s posture wasn’t tall as it should be. Something definitely happened, and it wasn’t for the good.

   Taking a cautious step back, he spoke.

   “Soulburner...? Is that my name? Who- Who are you? Where am I?”
