Romeo x Juliet AU

In fair Neo Verona (?) two ruling houses are in a fued - the house of Ylisse and the house of Plegia

The house of Ylisse currently rules, with the kind and fair leader, Emmryn, who has strived for peace after her father’s bloody coup d’etat of house Plegia. While the dethroning was well deserved, the cruel Gangrel of Plegia seeks to regain the throne. He works in secret with a man named Validar, who guards the secrets of a great beast. He states that his child holds the key to ruling the beast, but she was kidnapped by her mother as an infant in an attempt to escape the child’s fate. But the child bears the brand of the great beast, and there will be no escape. All it will take is to regain control of the throne, in order to access the great hall of the beast, and the very child that is marked to summon it.

The child, now in their 20s, hides within the shadows of Neo Verona, occasionally masquerading as a short haired swordsman, taking on duels with local fighters (hello Lon’qu) for the sport and the earnings. But in their living quarters, the short hair becomes long, a plait leading to a ponytail, and the sword is replaced by a tome - a young sorcerer in the making. She has no recollection of her mother, who died when she was young, and is unaware of the purpose of the mark on the back of her hand. Robin hides from the soldiers of Plegia who seek her out - with her she has several companions: Henry, an odd fellow that brings humor to their group; tharja, who, while a little obsessive over Robin, shows her great loyalty; Virion, an enigmatic poet and skilled archer who speaks pretty words, but cannot seem to strike a heart with Cupid’s arrow; and Gaius, a quick witted thief with a serious sweet tooth. Together, the help aid the people of Neo Verona where it feels that the house of Ylisse cannot reach.

A kind healer and monk, Libra, who is loyal to Ylisse, had become fond of Robin and her band, and occasionally offers them aid for nothing more than stories or a bit of magic for his own amusement.

In the house of Ylisse, the young prince, Chrom, works with his soldiers (and his sister, Lissa) to scout out the town, fighting off bandits and Plegians who attempt to attack Ylisse. He is loyally followed by his retainer, Fredrick, and others, including Stahl, Sumia, Cordelia, Kellam, Sully, Ricken, Miriel, and many others; often recruiting others who show promise and a will to fight for something they believe in.

One day, Emmryn opens the walls of Ylisse to the public, a banquet of sorts, and word makes it to Robin’s group. They decide to attend, and find themselves among the company of peasants and nobility alike. Robin separates from the group, becoming overwhelmed by the large crowd within the banquet. She escapes to a quiet garden, lit up by the full moon and carrying the scent of flowers on the wind.

Finding himself too much berated by his companions for this or that, chrom, too, takes refuge from the crowd to the garden. There, illuminated by the soft glow of the moon, stars glittering above them, their paths cross. He stumbles upon robin, who has dozed off in her time enjoying the flowers of the garden.
