One of my favorite moments in all of Gundam (outside of Hathaway's Flash) is in Unicorn:

At the end when Banagher yells out for the Unicorn during the Neo Zeong fight, I felt (and still feel everytime I rewatch this moment) this completely culmination of
Firstly the theme that a Gundam doesn't have to be a weapon of war as during the entire fight Banagher doesn't actually do damage to FF beyond the weapon systems on the NZ.
But secondly and more importantly to me, the fact that the Unicorn is a part of Banagher.
I feel that the more we work with tools and machines the more they become part of us, like a limb, and isn't that what a mobile suit is? Just tool that looks like our body?
Banagher spent so much time with the Unicorn and not only that, he managed to overwrite it's main mission through his sheer determination.
The Unicorn is a part of Banagher, nothing ever gets more personal than this.
