Former Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers is set to be a witness for the prosecution in the federal obstruction and conspiracy case against Donald Trump.
That is according to the new PBS Frontline documentary âDemocracy on Trial."
The indictment states that then President Donald Trump falsely told Bowers tens of thousands of non-citizens in Arizona voted in the 2020 election.
In the Frontline interview, Bowers recalled his reaction to being asked to replace Arizonaâs electors to vote in Trumpâs favor.
"For them to say to me, yeah we just want you to throw out those electors and put in Trumpâs. Iâm thinking âhave I gone to another planet?' I mean itâs like, what? Iâm not gonna do that. I mean, I wanted him to win, OK, so what? Iâm not gonna cheat," Bowers said.
The obstruction trial is slated to begin in March.

The disclosure prompted a surprised Collins to note, âThis is news.â
In the days and weeks after Trump lost the 2020 election, he and several of his aides initiated pressure campaigns on Republican officials in states he lost, including as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
