So I was weathering my ruins and I thought why not make a little tutorial on how i paint rust!
Paints needed/used: Typhus Corrosion, Ryza Rust, and optionally Skeleton Horde contrast paint, Agrax Earthshade.
Step 1: base coat your metal, I used Vallejo metal color (it says for the airbrush but I used a brush and it works fine) or your preferred metal paint, I'd recommend something dark though.
Step 2: apply Typhus Corrosion where you want the rust to go, aim for broken pieces of steel and places where water would sit. (please don't use a good brush here, use one you don't care about going messed up)
Step 3: thin your Ryza Rust with some water until it's almost like a shade but a bit thicker. Wick most of it off on some kitchen paper and apply with a stippeling motion within the Typhus Corrosion
Step 4: thin your Ryza Rust just slightly you want layer paint consistency and stipple it over your previous layer of Ryza Rust to really get that fresh orange rust
Next step is optional use Skeleton Horde and Agrax Earthshade to blend the layers between steel and rust, so just apply it where the rust meets the steel but mostly on the steel (mostly to dirty up that steel)
And just like that your building looks like Servitors haven't maintained it for 30 years.
You can also apply some pigments at this stage if you have those!
Thanks for reading!
