âDad Iâll be fine! Iâm just sitting a few rows back, you have Y/brothers/n to keep you company!â â..fineâŚjust come get me if you need anything okay?â âI will dad, I love you, see ya later.â
Your dad had messed up your flight tickets, not the first time. He had booked two seats together and one separate, a few rows back. You didnât want to be stuck with your little brother and your dad refused to put that little rascal by himself, so you volunteered. You find your seat, 17E, youâre in the middle, fantastic. You settle youâre things down, grabbing your headphones out your bag and sliding it under the seat in front of you. Once your seat is buckled and phone on airplane mode, you lean back, closing your eyes, not a second later someone taps your shoulder.
âHey, can I squeeze past you there?â A boy says. âOh, sorry yeah of course!â You try your best to move yourself out of the way, putting your legs up on your seat and pushing yourself back as far as possible against the seat as if thatâll do something. He shuffles past you and into the window seat. âSorry to bother you.â âOh no itâs fineâSorry I was getting in your way.â Looking over at him, you notice how pretty he is. Bright, piercing grey eyes looking down as he fastens his buckle together. He looks over at you and gives a small nod and slight smile, a sign of notice of your presence, you nod back with a subtle pink flush spreading across your cheeks.
After a few long minutes the cabin crew gives their safety speech and demonstration. The pretty boy groans quietly with impatience. âGood to get the worst part of the flight over with first.â You say jokingly. âGuess youâre right, whatâs your name? Iâm Ryan.â âY/n, nice to meet you.â
Youâve been in the air for a couple of hours now, you like overnight flights, the lights are dimmed to a purple/blue, itâs calming. You yawn and put your pillow on the arm rest you share with Ryan, resting your elbow on top of the uncomfortable fabric. Heâs looking out the window, trying to spot stars. âSee anything?â âHmm? not yet. Once you spot one you spot hundreds though.â You hum in agreement. âAre you not tired?â âNo I am, but I donât want to sleep just yet. I love when it gets dark and everyone else is asleep.â
After about half an hour you start to drift off, your head slipping off your hand thatâs holding it up. Your head lands on Ryanâs shoulder. He looks down at you but doesnât say anything, he doesnât want to disturb your sleep and he doesnât mind that much anyway. He checks how long is left of the flight on the screen attached to the seat in front of him, enough time left to be bored for hours if awake the whole time and tired the next day. He decides itâs probably best for him to get some shut eye as well. He puts the thin blanket (if you can even call it that) that the crew provides you with over his legs and rests his head against your own, falling into dreams.
The overhead lights turn on, illuminating a warm glow, blinking sleep from your eyes you try to get used to the intense yellow light thatâs getting brighter. You groan and push yourself up off of the boy next to you. Heâs still asleep and you feel a bit embarrassed that you fell asleep on him but grateful he didnât wake you.
He starts to rise slowly, he sighs in exhaustion and keeps his eyes closed, stretching and leaning against the window. âGoodmorning, sleep well?â He says, eyes tight shut. âSlept fine, thanks for letting me lean on you.â âNo trouble.â You sit in silence for awhile, a little awkward. âSo Uhm, why are you flying alone?â You ask him. âWell my auntie and uncle just moved to a suburb in Philadelphia and my mom is making me visit them. I love them but I donât think I can handle them for a week in a suburb, likeâŚItâs all old people, whatâs to enjoy? I canât drive anywhere, I donât have any cousins and they donât even have a normal TV, just a DVD player.â He groans and drags his hands down his face. âI kinda know how you feel, Iâm visiting my grandparents and all we do is swim and eat and watch TV. My cousins are coming for a few days though so Iâm better off than you I guess. What part of Philly?â âââââ âare you serious? Same, Maybe we can sort something out and we can hangout!â âOh my gosh that would be a genuine lifesaver. Letâs exchange numbers.â You swap phones, typing in your numbers then switching them back. âGreat, Iâll totally text you when I get there.â He says.
A couple hours pass and youâve been chatting with him basically the whole time, about your hobbies, interests, school subjects youâve picked for the upcoming year, anything really. He mentioned quite sheepishly that he makes music under the name âConceal.â Youâve heard all the stereotypes about SoundCloud rappers and âundergroundâ artists, but he doesnât seem like one of those. The intercom comes on and the pilot lets the passengers know the plane is going to land in roughly 15 minutes. You pack up your things and fold up the blanket you had slept with, excited to finally reach your destination and get a good stretch in.
âExcited?â You ask him. âMmm not really, but if we get to hangout Iâll be in high spirits.â He smiles a toothy grin, pointy canines peeking out. You blush, heâs so cute you canât help it.
People start to get up, pulling bags down from the overhead bins, slowly filing out of the plane. You and Ryan wiggle into the aisle, mumbling sorries as you push others out the way, trying to find a space in the line. You eventually reach the cab of the plane, meeting your dad and brother. They exchange quick introductions with Ryan and you all start to make your way to the baggage claim. Each of you get your suitcases with no difficulty, spotting them promptly.
You and Ryan walk together towards the exit, your dad trying to hail a cab and Ryan on the phone to his aunt asking where she is. He waves his hand up high as he spots her and hangs up the call. Your dad lugs the suitcases into the car and signals for you to get a move on. Ryan looks at you with a twinkle in his eye and hugs you goodbye. âSee you later Y/n, donât forget to text me.â âI wonât forget, see ya Ryan.â You climb into the taxi and wave goodbye as he climbs into the passenger seat of his aunts car, waving back.
Notes: pls forgive any spelling mistakes or whatnot Iâm super tired but I wanna post this anyway. Things will be fixed eventually. Loveđđ
