i did say runeraz :3 i have been missing holger muchly and was ruminating about both him and carlos being out with injury rn..
so we start with carlos withdrawing from Barcelona and announcing his injury, and holger reaches out to be like hey do u wanna link up while we’re both in the trenches? maybe they talk a bit first lol but they do meet up and just hang out u know.
but they chat about being injured and of course holger has been out since uhh was it october? last year, and he was supposed to come back for clay season but would post-pone that until grass; whereas at that time Carlos had only withdrawn from barna and rome. imagining him telling holger first that he doesn’t think he’ll make it to Roland Garros..
I think holger starts ruminating on how easy it is to get along with carlos when tennis is not in the way.. the unique angst of the very thing that unites them being the thing that keeps them apart. they were closer as children when they were more or less peers, but have never been quite as close as adults, with carlos reaching such lofty heights as holger struggles to keep up…
but in this moment with the both of them unable to play tennis they r able to connect as people, not as tennis players.
anyway this is about as far as I’ve gotten. maybe they watch rg together, maybe carlos tells holger he won’t make it for grass either and holger has to leave him. maybe they try and keep up the increased contact until carlos is also back on tour.. maybe things happen then, when they’re both back competing. maybe they learn how to be rivals AND yaoi out 🙏🏼
