A Mistake
for @sombreset because I haven’t written anything in weeks but Valentine’s Day Prideshipping is a necessity
Also I am too lazy to make it longer
“You know, I’ve been thinking, Kaiba.”
Of all the places for a run-in with Yugi or rather the Yugi counterpart it seemed, this day itself was rather odd. Rather questionable that Yugi had been looking for specifically him in question. Stranger than all these oddities was the brightly wrapped box the other held so unwittingly behind his back.
Though being bigger than his own back it wasn’t quite hidden persay.
“Spare me the unnecessary chatter. What’s your point?” He gestures to the ‘unseen’ package- clearly annoyed that Yugi thought it to be a good plan of deception.
Rather the counterpart thought such. Entertaining all the same.
“We aren’t really friends, are we.” Dark Yugi blurts all too quickly, retracting the bright pink box from behind his back with shaky hands- daunted at the pressure of what he was to say.
Seto opens his mouth only to be, irritably, cut off.
“I mean. I thought we were friends.”
“We were never friends to begin with, that is an unnecessary label, Yugi.”
“I know.” He snaps quickly. “I thought long and hard about it.” His free hand fiddles with a strand of golden hair, twisting a pulling it almost nervously. “And I came to the conclusion.”
Seto knows he has to be at least the tiniest bit curious where this is headed. “Conclusion?”
Yugi-two nods. “I realized we aren’t friends. No, we’re more than friends.”
And Seto’s eyes go wide a split second before almost losing composure to the sputtering surprise of Yugi’s quick statement if at all pertaining to-
“Do elaborate.”
At this point he isn’t sure what to think.
“Well I’ve deduced we’re something special, more than friends. A one-of-a-kind bond. So I brought you this in hopes you feel the same.” Yugi the second holds out the cake in which is flabbergastedly taken into comparatively larger hands.
“Wh-”
He’s looking at him with hopeful eyes as his own widen once again.
Drawing back the lid with hidden fear, Seto isn’t entirely sure what he was expecting of their odd duel-me-for-christ’s-sake relationship they had already formed and the sudden announcement of their furthered relationship.
But standing there with a pink bakery box, lid pulled back. Lips parted in a quiet exhale at the sight of pink frosting words that decorated his baby blue cake.
He knows it certainly hadn’t been this.
The word ‘Rivals’ decorates almost every inch of this god-forsaken blue cake. Surrounded by pink frosted flowers and written in impeccable cursive.
In big print, little print and a fairly medium size.
He can only stare in numb disgust at the abomination presented.
“We’re one true rivals.” He feels his shoulder pat softly.
“I’m glad we had this understanding. Bye, Kaiba.”
And off Yugi sprints down the street. For fear that the cake wasn’t gourmet enough and it would be thrown in his face.
And it would.
But rather for other reasons not even Yami Yugi himself could comprehend at this point and time.
A lower comprehension would be why Kaiba was now chasing him down the street, cake poised to smash itself into him.
“YUGI!”
