For Chapter 11 (Green and Gold) of my fic, One Night for the Heart.

I had something almost entirely typed up days ago, but it disappeared... So this one might be a bit different, but here goes:

Counting down...

5. The first one I thought of is Yoko Kanno's "Machine Soldier". If you know the story of how I found Escaflowne, you know I wasn't invested in it until The Day the Angel Flew. But when this song played during the early guymelef fights, I was totally amused. I loved how it sounded very similar to banging pots and pans, and I missed it in the last half of the series.

4. Hajime Mizoguchi's "Shadow of Doubt," the song I associate with Folken. Who doesn't love a good cello?

3. "Mystic Eyes," the closing song of the series...because ... well, that beat drop with the red glove, "spinning Van"" and", "rain Van" and... you get the idea.

2. From the movie, "Take My Hands," (Kanno)... when Van catches Hitomi... need I say more?

And my very favorite is "First Vision" (Kanno), the opening song we hear in the movie. I love it more than words can say. There's something so otherworldly about it, and it almost always puts me in the mood to write.

Honorable mention goes to "What'cha gonna do???" (Kanno) and "Cat's Delicacy" (Gabriela Robin), because there's just something fun about the quirky songs written for Merle.

And because my 4yo listened with me, he has his own list:

"Charm," (Kanno), the music he recognized from "when Hitoni is being covered".

2. "Dance of Curse" (I prefer "Dance of Curse II" from the Movie OST)

and of course, 3. "Hitomi Theme" (Hajime Mizoguchi)
