You mentioned a ruffle butt skirt made with ribbon in a recent post: could we please have pictures of that?
Of course! I discovered I suck at labeling things while rounding these pictures up LOL
First off this entire idea is based off of RuffleButt ‘s tutorial for her Madoka cosplay. (which I think has been taken down because the link I had no longer works...?)
So here’s 80 yards of ribbon. I folded it in half and stitched it down, then used a ruffle foot over it twice to make this messy pile of 40 yards of ruffles:
Then using a BUTTLOAD of tulle, I started making the skirt. It’s just a basic circle skirt, and each layer I added 2 inches to the hem so all the layers would fall even. Here’s a WIP picture of that layering step:
And an upshot of the skirt around this stage as well:
I decided it wasn’t ruffle-y enough, so I doubled the ruffles on the edges and got this glorious effect. I also had to add short layers of stiff gathered tulle every second layer of circle skirt and some ribbon at the waist to keep the skirt poofy and from collapsing in on itself.
And then of course I never finished it myself. I gave it to a @a-little-more-tea and she sewed the waist band so it fit her. Here is the finished rufflebutt skirt, underneath a 6 pound skirt. So you can see how big the rufflebutt skirt was to still have shape under such a heavy overskirt!
which resulted in this poofy masterpiece
This project was a lot of fun to do, and was the first time I had ever made ruffles myself. And there’s still some leftover somewhere *headdesks*
I havent taken new pics of my birds in ages so here are my two most recent. Small one and then Screamings
