first of all, let me just say that i do enjoy the movie and respect everyone involved as well as alex, herself - and i do understand that in adaptations and book-based movies, a lot of things do have to be changed and be portrayed a little differently - and y’know, i’m okay with it, it’s cool, you do you.

but i still feel like there were too many unnecessary changes in the tdm movie (i know its been talked about a lot and that there has been some light shed on the matter, but lmfao im giving you my personal opinion - that nobody really asked for - but seriously, if you don’t wanna hear it, i really think you should just scroll past?)

in no way am i trying to bring down anybody or spark a fire, this is just purely my opinion because i kinda have a lot to say and im just at the point where im using my account as an outlet for all my pent up feelings and opinions, oof.

first of all, heh, they changed chubs’ colour - and while that’s not really considered much of a big deal anymore, i just think he shouldn’t have had his ‘label’ changed - books chubs was hella smart and had a really great personality that i could really relate to, and one of the things i really liked about him was the fact that he did possess some form of enhanced intelligence, but still wasn’t labelled as a green, instead being identified as a blue; 

like something about that warms up my heart, knowing that he was a genius but didn’t have to be labelled as one to be it? i don’t really know how to describe it, but i hope you get what i mean.

next, the reds???? like bro, what? the movie really depicted them as monsters, which they literally are not? they’re just kids who had their mind broken by /assholes/ of leaders and people who abused their powers, and i wasn’t okay in the slightest with how they were portrayed - and it’s just so so far from the few reds we were able to meet (and sorta know) throughout the series, (mason, my babes cole and lucas).

to wrap things up really quickly, let me just rant about how the movie literally robbed us of ruby’s character growth; movie-ruby was getting into everyone’s minds like it was a casual thing, and was acting like her abilities weren’t something she struggled with for like half the series???

again, don’t get me wrong, pop off girl -

but fox discarded and disregarded most of the things that made me love the series in the first place; i feel like so many kids these days struggle with the way they perceive themselves and just need that kind of boost from something they like (e.g: books, movies, magazines etc..). By taking away one of the key lessons from the series in the movie, a lot of the character arcs and growth/progressions lack basis and just don’t make a lot of sense? 

and i don’t see how they can recover my trust in them by doing something like that?

i know that a lot of us, myself included, grew up thinking that we were monsters and don’t exactly agree with a lot of decisions those in power make, and the tdm series really taught me that it was okay to have certain aspects of myself that i don’t necessarily like or agree with - and that the most important thing that i could ever do is coming into terms with myself, what made me me and who i am, as well as standing up for what i believe in, and doing what seems like the wrong thing for all the right reasons - 

and the movie robbed us of that.

ps: im also not okay with how liam doesn’t call ruby “darlin’” a single time throughout the whole movie, but i guess im okay living with it?

lies, im not - but for sake of ending things here, let’s just say i am.

but i really am not.
