"No."
"I'm really not that sick-"
"Nope!"
"I've gotta work, Kia will-"
"Go back to bed Ruby! Please!"
Skyler continued to push her stubborn girlfriend back towards her bed. Violet, Jade, Amaya and Bella had no luck convincing her that she wasn't well, even after an awful coughing fit. So, they'd called reinforcements, as Jade put it.
And despite Ruby's repeated protests, it was clear that she wasn't well, from the exhaustion in her voice, the dark shadows under her eyes, the slightly audibly wheeze in her chest.
"Ruby. You're sick. You're not going to work today," Skyler asserted firmly.
Finally, Ruby relented, slumping down onto her bed with a huff, which only triggered more coughing.
Skyler's face softened, "Aw, babe, c'mere.
She wrapped her arms around her, before she began helping Ruby back into bed, pulling back the duvet as she laid down again.
"Alright, I'm gonna go tell Kia you're not coming in, and get some food and drinks while I'm down there. And you can get your pajamas on, then the two of us can watch something together," she said, heading towards the door.
"Sky?"
"Yeah?"
"Love you."
Skyler smiled, "Love you too."
