Hmm... I can't put my finger on it, but something about this dragon and artwork in general looks strangely familiar -thinking-. Oh well, guess we'll never know!
The stark shading on this gets me every time. That deep black obscuring some of its features but helping define the weird, jagged, crystalline shape of its body, while the bright white used for the highlights creates this washed out look reminiscent of sunlight on rocks. I love it. Ruby Dragon is another weird, jacked up looking dragon (like Spirit Ryu), but that fact makes it so unique and recognizable to me. Like, that head shape? I’ve never ever seen another dragon with a head shaped like that, and it’s such a recognizable silhouette that you could put it anywhere and I could ID it correctly. The rest of its body is unique too, of course, from its wings that are essentially nothing more than frames, its big muscular fists, and its feet that are just hooks for perching. I’m torn on whether or not I like green as the background color or not. I almost think it would look better if it was blue (for no particular reason, of course), but the emerald green color isn’t horrible.
