Jumps in the way of (my muse) and potential danger. (Is this in reference to our current thread with this dork and Lacey? P o s s i b l y)
As someone who had to work late nights, Lacey was always keenly aware of when she was being followed. Normally drunks from the bar that she didn’t bother giving the time of day. More often than not they usually gave up, too busy tripping over themselves to cause any real harm except to themselves. This time, though, it had been a small group of them. Three, to be exact. She’d initially kept a steady pace, keeping her eyes straight ahead. All the while her left hand dug into her purse, grasping onto her cellphone tightly.
She mentally cursed at herself as she thought through her potential routes home. All dark streets and alleys at this time of night. Not the best location either. With each step of her own, she heard the echoes of others behind her. …Actually, were they picking up speed? That thought made her heart pound. God dammit.
Pulling her phone out, she pressed the emergency button and spun on her heels, fingers ready to punch in 911.
“If you guys don’t back o-”
A wince of pain forced her to cut herself off as a hand roughly grabbed at her wrist, twisting it and forcing her to drop her phone with a loud thud.
Oh god oh god please don’t be broken, was her first initial thought. Her second– well. It hadn’t been thought, per se. More like instinct. She slammed her right fist against the chest of the person who grabbed her. The impact of the punch had been more than she’d expected, and it took her a moment to process what it was that caused the dude to release her and practically collapse to the ground like he’d just been electrified by something. Her gaze fell to the golden ring wrapped around her finger.
Using this chance, she quickly backed away, giving herself distance between her and the now shocked and unsure, though blatantly angry men before her. She raised her right fist in an attempt to be threatening.
“Y-Yeah, that’s right! I did that! Now do you assholes wanna leave me alone or do I gotta do it agai–”
Her words died in her throat as a familiar skeleton instantly appeared in front of her, practically blocking the view of her assailants.
