NIMBUS installation by Donna Abrenica, Jessica Lee, Krystal Mak and Evelyn WangÂ
NIMBUS acts as a veil with an indefinite start and end. Varying densities at different scales are aggregated throughout. The layered effect of stretched fabric provides overcast similar to that of clouds in the sky. NIMBUS is an installation created for a coat-check area, featured at the Ryerson School of Design’s Year end show 2015 (YESxRSID).

"Walk like three men are walking behind you." -Oscar de la Renta
A Forever 21 dress hangs on my dorm room door accompanied by a cotton cardigan and my first "real" pair of nude heels. I look at the outfit with a critical eye, silently cursing the fact that my Forever 21 dress isn't Oscar de la Renta and that my boutique-bought nude heels aren't Louboutins. "Someday," my inner New York City writer-starlet promises me.Â
Tomorrow is a special day. My simple nude heels will click against the cobblestone as I strut my Forever 21-clad stuff to my very first fashion show: the Rhode Island School of Design's Collection 2014. Now before I get cocky and pretend that my 5-foot 3-inch frame will be one of the sleek ladies walking the runway, I have a different job tomorrow (besides making Forever 21 look like haute couture). Among watching the magnificent creations of some of the most talented designers of our generation, I will be gabbing with press from The Huffington Post (*gasps*), sharing sex secrets with writers from Cosmopolitan (*prepares resume*), and shaking hands with Tommy Hilfiger (*faints*).Â
So what exactly is happening tomorrow?
On Saturday, May 10, the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is putting on it's annual "Collection" fashion show, featuring the one-of-a-kind creations made by RISD students. The show starts at 7 p.m. with a preview showing at 2 p.m. The fashions and creations walking tomorrow's runway at the Rhode Island Convention Center in downtown Providence, R.I. could be the future of Milan runways so stay tuned.Â
The designs that will be showcased in Collection 14 will be reviewed by a panel of guest critics that includes the Nicole Miller who also happens to be a RISD alumna.Â
So instead of studying for finals, I'm preparing my outfit for my debut into the world of fashion, glitz, and glamour. Watch out, world. Kate's coming for you, Forever 21 dress and all.Â
