Live-line maintenance tender highlights Power transmission projects vendor concentration
Power transmission projects are increasingly moving toward outage-free maintenance capability, and RRVPN’s latest financial bid comparison reflects that trend. The procurement covers insulated aerial work platform and insulated scaffolding system for maintenance of energised transmission lines and substations up to 400 kV.
The tender requires design, manufacture, testing, supply and installation or demonstration. This makes the package a deployment-ready equipment procurement rather than a simple product supply order. Only two bidders reached the commercial comparison: KAY CEE Energy & Infra Limited and Ramelex Pvt Ltd.
KAY CEE emerged as L1 in both BOQ schedules. BOQ 1 showed tight competition, with KAY CEE at Rs 48.99 crore and Ramelex at Rs 49.50 crore. The gap was only 1.1 percent. BOQ 2 showed a different pattern, with KAY CEE at Rs 31.75 crore and Ramelex at Rs 36.59 crore, a 15.3 percent gap. EnergylineIndia.com records this as important for Transmission infrastructure reports because the pricing spread differs sharply across equipment categories. Power transmission projects now require specialised maintenance systems. Power transmission projects may see limited bidder pools where certified live-line capability is essential. Power transmission projects procurement will likely grow as outage windows shrink, Transmission Infrastructure, Hot Line Maintenance, RRVPN, Grid Equipment, Power Procurement.
