20. How do they comfort each other when one of them is upset? Is this method of comfort effective?
i think that nico comforts jack by distracting him. jack isn't big on talking about his feelings, so it takes him a bit to actually say whats going on. but nico can always tell, so he'll do something jack really enjoys, like going to his favorite restaurant or watching his favorite movie or having sex. anything that will help calm jack down and make him smile and put him in a mood where he's ready to talk and process his feeling. it is very effective
jack, on the other hand, figured out how to comfort nico without really trying to. nico is earnest guy, he feels his feelings and doesn't try to keep them hidden. but he also doesn't get upset too often, so when they first got together jack didn't really know how to handle upset nico. so he would just hold him, cuddle in bed or on the couch. a lot of physical touch bc jack isn't great with words. but that's exactly what works with nico. just being close to jack comforts him, and if nico wants to talk jack will always listen, even if he has nothing to say back. nico is comforted by jack's presence.
do you have any thoughts about nate and jack as a pairing?
lmao this was a very fun pair of asks to receive. obviously, yes i have many thoughts about jack and nate as a pairing. i actually started writing my first fic about them a while ago, when nate first got back from seattle and jack said "it felt like a dream," which was so fucked up of him. didn't realize the fic i posted the other day was the first one. very excited to create yet another new tag on ao3 because i can't stop making nate kiss people lol.
there are many things about them as a pairing that intrigued me. the size difference is definitely a fun one. but also they seem like really good friends - they're also stall mates this season and in this article nate talks about sitting next to jack and how he's had to learn how to read him and be aware of jack's mood during practice vs game days. which was really cute to me.
also one of the things that i love about nate is how loyal he is to his team and how supportive he is and taking that characterization and putting it with jack, who is one of the best players in the league and has a lot of weight on his shoulders to great and help drag this team to the end, creates a very sweet dynamic.
