And the other reason “queer-baiting” and “feeding the rpfers” accusations are so repugnant is it is holding Hudson responsible for how other people perceive him, as if that’s in his control, and as if he’s in any way obligated to behave differently to avoid being perceived that way. It simultaneously faults him and absolves the people who perceive him as “queer-baiting” or “feeding the rpfers.” It implies that Hudson has somehow slighted others for what they assume about him, as though they’re somehow victims because Hudson wore makeup to the Met Gala or because Hudson smiled fondly at his friend. Not only is it absurd to act like someone making you think they’re queer when they’re (possibly) not or making you think they like someone romantically when they don’t is in any way victimizing, it is not his fault you have such a narrow mind that you assume anyone who thinks or says or does this that or the other thing is queer / romantically interested in someone. It’s also not his fucking problem you feel entitled to him being queer or in love with his co-star. He doesn’t fucking belong to you and he doesn’t fucking owe you anything.
