Masterpost
Patton sprinted across a rooftop, a sack over his shoulder, followed closely behind by his partner, the Prince, and followed slightly further behind by their two enemies, Logic and the Snake. The sack was full of money, as the heist had been quite successful.
Gosh, there were so many things that they could do with the money: charities they could donate to, gifts that Roman and Patton could buy for each other, all sorts of delightful treats.
The only problem now was that Patton and Roman they needed to escape the heroes.
Patton checked back over his shoulder to make sure that the Prince - in his elaborate, red, white and gold costume - was still following him. He was, and Roman flashed a grin at him, before Patton turned forward again, a smile dancing across his own features.
There was something just so fun about a chase, even when Patton was the one being chased.
"Stop!" Logic ordered, and all of a sudden he was in front of them, teleporting from his spot behind them to right into their path.
Patton stopped just before he could run right into him. Consequentially, Roman almost ran right into Patton.
Patton spun around, ready to turn and run in another direction, but then the Snake leapt at Roman. The two collided with each other, falling to the ground, and - in the blink of an eye - they suddenly both looked like Roman.
Distracted by the Prince and the Snake, Patton almost lost track of Logic, but Patton turned his head just in time to see Logic leaping at him. Patton quickly raised his hand, and a forcefield suddenly surrounded Logic - pale blue and indestructable.
Logic stumbled back, surprised, his back hitting the forcefield, before he raised his head and glared at Patton. The expression was probably supposed to be threatening, but Patton found it just the slightest bit adorable.
Logic's teleportation powers were not nearly as strong as his telekinetic abilities. He usually only used it once per battle, or he would pass out, which had happened a couple times and been incredibly convenient for the villains. He wouldn't be able to escape that forcefield until Patton brought it down.
Patton smiled, just a tad sheepish, though he wasn't really all that apologetic.
"Sorry!" he said.
Logic banged his hand against the forcefield, continuing to glare at Patton.
"Let me out," he demanded.
"Sorry!" he repeated. "I can't do that just yet. But I promise, I won't leave you in that forever!"
Then, Patton heard a loud thud, and his head snapped to look at the source of the noise. One of the Romans had thrown the other into a chimney; it was impossible to tell who was who, as the Snake's ability to shapeshift gave him the ability to copy superpowers, too.
At least his ability didn't last too long, so he wouldn't have Roman's super-strength for forever.
Just before the thrown Roman could jump back up, Patton raised his hands again, creating forcefields around both Romans. Their heads both snapped to look at him.
The lips of the one who had been thrown curled into a smile, and he stood up.
"Morality, my darling. Thank you for capturing our enemy for me. Now, can you just let me go so we can escape?"
The other Roman let out an offended sound.
"Excuse me, you dare try to convince my beloved that you are me? I am the real Prince." He turned to Patton. "Please, dearest, let me go."
Uh oh.
Patton couldn't tell who was who.
He hummed, tapping his foot against the ground.
There were multiple ways he could try to figure out which was the real Roman. He could ask them something only the real Roman would know, but then he would be giving personal information to their enemies. He could ask Roman to take off his mask, which the Snake wouldn't be able to do, as his power of shapeshifting made the clothes of the copied a part of him, but that would reveal Roman's identity.
Hmm...
Patton thought about it for a moment.
Then, an idea popped into his head, and he smiled. He looked between the Romans, trying to figure out which to target first, before his gaze landed on the one who had been thrown into the chimney.
He walked over to him, placing his hand on the forcefield and smiling at the Roman.
"Honey, you're just so gorgeous. Will you please give me a smile?"
The Roman blinked, surprised, and his face began to turn red.
There it was.
Patton smiled.
The real Roman wouldn't have been surprised by the flirting.
And while the Snake could certainly flirt - he used it to try to distract Patton and Roman all the time - he wasn't so used to the flirting being returned.
Patton took a step back, letting out a laugh.
"Nice try, Snake," he said. "But I know my partner too well for your tricks to work."
Roman - the real Roman - laughed, too, and Patton lowered the forcefield that surrounded him.
Roman straightened up, brushing invisible dirt from his super-suit. Then, he held out his hand to Patton, and Patton placed the hand not holding the sack into it.
"Shall we go, my darling?" Roman said.
"Of course!" Patton said back with a smile.
Logic cleared his throat. "You won't get away with this every time, Prince and Morality."
Roman laughed.
"Oh, Logic, you doubt our skills! We shall always succeed." He winked. "Maybe, one day, you'll even join our side! And I, for one, cannot wait for that day, dearest."
Logic's face began to redden, and Patton bit back a giggle. He turned back to Roman, squeezing his hand.
"Let's go, honey, before they escape."
Roman nodded, and, before anyone could say anything else, he scooped Patton up into his arms, carrying him bridal style. Then, he began to run and leapt off the edge of the rooftop.
They landed on the street, unharmed, with a loud thud, and Roman kept running.
As they got further and further away, Patton lost his grip on the forcefields surrounding their enemies, but that was okay. It would take a while for Logic and the Snake to catch up to them.
Patton let out another laugh.
"They're handsome, aren't they?" he commented.
Roman smiled.
"As handsome as ever," he said. He then paused. "Do you think they'll ever join our side?"
"I'm still holding onto hope!"
