Second book in the trilogy- we are introduced to a young assassin's apprentice called Ash, then we discover he is actually genderfluid and also goes by Spark, and she is an extremely cool character that I had such high hopes for, he is only 13 and I expected her to meet and become friends with the 2 other young characters in the next book . Also the fact that we got another genderfluid character and this time they are human!!! (The Fool is also genderfluid, and an amazing character, but he is not human) And then. Third book comes out. Spark is referred to almost exclusively as her feminine persona, AND she gets TWO unnecessary romantic subplots with guys who are like 19/20 :((( extremely on brand for Hobb and extremely annoying. AND THE WORST PART IS I'M 95% SURE ONE OF THEM IS HER HALF BROTHER! AND IT'S NOT ADRESSED EVEN THOUGH IT'S EXTREMELY OBVIOUS DUE TO BOTH HAVING BEEN APPRENTICED TO CHADE AND HAVING LIGHT-MOTIFF NAMES LIKE CHADE(pronounced 'shade') IS NOT SUBTLE AT ALL IN NAMING HIS BASTARDS HUH STOP FUCKING YOU 100 YEAR OLD BASTARD I LOVE YOU BUT AT LEAST TELL YOUR OWN BASTARDS THEY ARE RELATED LANTERN AND SHINE ALREADY HAVE TO LIVE WITH REGRET AND DISCOMFORT BECAUSE NOBODY BOTHERED TO INFORM THEM AND WITH LANTERN/SPARK IT'S EVEN WORSE WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT HOBB yeah i know the names are weird. lantern is called lant for short and he thought his name was FitzVigilant and that he was someone else's bastard shine is called shun by everyone and that's worse anyway you see why i refuse to believe that Spark isn't one of his, I'm pretty sure he denied it but he also loves lying and counts on fitz(fitzchivalry) to be smarter and also he started having dementia and also it's been a while since i read the last trilogy (this is the last trilogy in the realm of the elderlings) anyway Ash/Spark deserved a better plotline and to just hangout with Perseverance and Bee in the last book

Propaganda:

it's a really good book series i highly recommend it if you want pain (I barely talked here abput any of the main characters so it doesn't spoil too much, but the first trilogy is called Farseer, it's character-focused high fantasy)
