I must... Expose the wonders of roash/roswag/ashgames/swaggames/whatever you want to call them (me personally, I like roash bc it looks kinda like 'roach' and that's what they are... /lh but also)
They're soooooooooo toxic doomed (so, so doomed) yaoi (or Yuri :3 )
Ok. Ok. Ok. S5 is like. The biggest thing that got me started on this. Cause I wanted to watch the finale vod, and ro was like. One of the only players on The Players (ha) to actually stream, AND he was a finale winner last person standing thing, so I was like sureeee let's watch this. I also liked Ro even then.
And then.
So, near the end, when Ro is chasing Ash, Ash asks to talk to Ro. Immediately, I'm like 'hm?' bc why? And then Ash starts asking Ro WHY.
Why did he leave? Why did he 'betray'? It's like.
Ash was like, desperate. He sounded desperate. He said multiple times that he 'didn't want to fight Ro'. And the entire time, he sounded so hurt, desperate, and above all... confused.
No one else got these questions, this sheer desperation. Not in the earlier seasons I believe, and not in the later seasons. Just Ro.
Ro's answer was simple. Because he didn't feel like he belonged, was a valuable member of the team. Lala was a beautiful concept, but it had never truly worked out. They weren't really a TEAM, more like strings thrown across each other's paths.
And let's be real, the others didn't think of him as their team either. Even tho they didn't really have concrete proof that Ro was betraying, they still kicked him from the team. He was expendable, and no one really ever mentioned him. Or cared. That's why he joined the Players, bc THEY actually gaf abt him. The amount of times I've seen Minute spam 'Duality Duo' in chat bc those two are. Being them 😭 Zam said it herself: "anytime Ro needs anything, he comes straight to you. And anytime you need anything from anyone that isn't us, it's uh, it's ro."
Also: "they're (they in question being mapicc and zam I think) going to trust Ro?" "sure they are, it's roshambo, the mapicc ally dude!" "Dude, he's not my ally." "He's THE Mapicc ally!"
And think abt this; Ro voted for Mapicc, not Minute or Red or 4c, for a reason. And Minute contacted EVERYONE ELSE ON THE TEAM... except for Ro.
I'm sure Ro noticed that.
No wonder he came to Mapicc first, because his 'team' didn't CARE for him. And it wasn't like this was new news, Ash created the 'team' by telling all of them they were communists now, whether they wanted to be or not.
And Ash... just didn't listen. He could have tried, looking back on things. He could have questioned before. But he didn't, and even when Ro TOLD HIM exactly why he left...
He didn't listen. Continued berating Ro, calling him evil and awful and telling him he was wrong and in the same breath- begging him to come back, to see reason even as he refused to see Ro.
And Ro himself? When he was stating why he'd left, he'd been confident. Sure of himself. He left for a reason, he knew why. And then Ash berated him, calling him all sorts of things... and he faltered.
Started sounding less put together, less sure. Less like he was in the right and more doubtful of himself.
Zam got him out of the call, and he started sounding sure of himself again.
But.
Like- even in S6 there are a few moments where ALMOST. And the thing with them is Ro just wants to be heard, and Ash will never listen. If they stay together Ro will slowly be torn apart into shreds. And Ash will never stop yearning for Ro, for the Idea of Ro that he ignores until he wants it.
Anyways thank you for listening to my ted talk I can talk a lot about these two (this has been me typing on my phone when I have time this entire day 😭) for a long long time. I'm actually thinking of writing a god au with them toxic yaoi/Yuri that ends in poly-medusa... :3
!!
