Rose McDowall Album from 1986-88 Reissue
Originally a limited edition of 500 hand-numbered and signed compact discs, this rare gem was recorded by Rose McDowall in 1988 and 1989 following the break up of her group Strawberry Switchblade. Produced with the aid of several musicians in several studios, the album features songs written for the fabled second Strawberry Switchblade album. When I say rare, in this age of nearly any obscure music being accessible in the depths of the internet, I mean it.  Its not on what (though I’ve now requested it), and there’s one original copy of the cd for sale on discogs for almost $100. Â
Interestingly, the original version was only 9 tracks, but the trackist booklet consisted of 10, with a song called "Honey Bee" a.k.a. "I Can Feel" that was not included because of a manufacturer's error. The reissue hasn’t posted a track listing yet, but hopefully it’ll have that missing song.    Â
Earlier this year, Night School reissued Rose McDowall’s Don't Fear The Reaper 12″ for Record Store Day as well, at the time advertising it as, “the first signpost in our ongoing project with Rose.”
Rose McDowall - Cut With the Cake Knife LP is available from both Sacred Bones Records in the states, and Night School abroad.  Sacred Bones has a Ltd to 200 hand-numbered copies in deluxe packaging, with alternate screen-printed wrap-around sleeve, wax-sealed, and available by mail order only one per person.  Or grab it from Night School here.
