When there's an itch you just can't reach. I think this is a Rose Chafer (Cetonia aurata) grub, which apparently helps break down your compost, doesn't eat live roots, and does turn into a beautiful iridescent green beetle. #rosechafer #cetoniaaurata (at Newtown Square, Pennsylvania)

Rose Chafers (Hypopholis sommeri) in Karry's room. These little guys are everywhere at this time of year, earning their other common name of Christmas Beetles. They feed on garden plants, with an especial fondness for roses.
